Summer Fancy Food Show Breaks Records
2,400 exhibitors feature 180,000 specialty products from around the world

New York, NY (June 29, 2008) - The 54th Summer Fancy Food Show will be the largest yet, connecting more than 24,000 buyers with a record number of specialty food products from across the U.S. and around the world. The show, scheduled for June 29 - July 1, 2008, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City, will fill 345,000 square feet of exhibit space with thousands of specialty foods and beverages including cheese, olive oil, spices, tea, natural and organic products and chocolate from more than 2,400 exhibitors. There are 304 newcomers this year, including the countries of Dubai, Panama and Costa Rica.

Attendees represent all segments of the specialty food trade, including neighborhood gourmet shops, natural and organic retailers, supermarkets, mass merchants, gift shops, restaurants and caterers.

"The Summer Fancy Food Show continues to grow as the essential place to conduct business in the world of specialty food," says Ann Daw, president of the NASFT. "Despite concerns about the economy, the specialty food business has shown resilience. Retail sales reached $47.9 billion last year, up 23% from 2005. Our show helps connect buyers from every segment of the food business to the entrepreneurs and companies that make specialty food such a vibrant industry."

One of the highlights at the Summer Show is the Sofi Awards for outstanding products of 2008. Gold winners in 32 categories, including Outstanding New Product of 2008, will be announced at a special keynote presentation Monday, June 30, hosted by noted chef Jacques Pepin. NASFT's Outstanding Retailer Awards for 2008 will also be presented.

The NASFT is a not-for-profit trade association established in 1952 to foster trade, commerce and interest in the specialty food industry. Today there are more than 2,800 members in the U.S. and abroad. For further information on the NASFT and its Fancy Food Shows, go to http://www.specialtyfood.com
